Importance of Skin Checks during Winter
According to Cancer Council Australia, skin cancers continue to make up for 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers in this country every year.
Skin Cancers do not hibernate during the winter months. Covering up in winter puts our skin checks into the “out of sight – out of mind” category. This inattention can lead to a delay in a diagnosed skin cancer.
Winter is an ideal time for a skin check as during the cooler months we cover our skin and remain indoors leading to less traumatised skin, this makes it easier for you and your doctor to spot new or changing lesions.
