A Sun-Safe Summer
Summer is here which means warmer days, longer hours of daylight and time outside. As we spend more time in the sun enjoying BBQs, beach days, cricket, and footy games, it's crucial to remember that harmful UV rays can pose a serious health risk.
Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world which is a result of harmful UV rays. Whenever the UV levels reach 3 or higher, sun safety is recommended to protect yourself and avoid sun damage.
For the best protection, use all five SunSmart steps
👕 Slip on sun-protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible.
🧴 Slop on broad spectrum, water resistant SPF30 (or higher) sunscreen. Apply 20 minutes before going outdoors and every two hours afterwards.
🧢 Slap on a hat, broad brim or legionnaire style to protect your face, head, neck and ears.
⛱️ Seek shade.
🕶 Slide on sunglasses, make sure they meet Australian Standards
